BatPad - Fundraising for Portsmouth Community Cricket Club
BatPad are delighted to assist Portsmouth Community Cricket Club (PCCC) by raising money to help girls and boys, able bodied or not, simply to fulfil their dream of being able to play cricket. PCCC educates, promotes and encourages disabled men, women and children of all ages to play cricket. The coach of this club also works with approximately 3000 disadvantaged children from Portsmouth and Southampton each year to give them the opportunity to play cricket. In addition to this community focus PCCC has a men's team who play friendly fixtures in Hampshire and a highly successful women's team who, unfortunately, were relegated on the final day of the season from the women's National League Division 1. Many of the players in this team represent their respective counties at senior, under 15, under 13 and below. PCCC also have a couple of girls from their under 15's that have recently been selected for the England Squad. PCCC's club motto is 'We come together to play cricket honestly and fairly. It does not matter whether you are male, female, able bodied or not. All are welcome. We are a club that cares and enjoys what we do'. BatPad are proud to sponsor PCCC's great work. Recently one of the BatPad Team, Andrew Nunes, ran in the 10 mile Great South Run in full cricket gear, ie cricket whites, pads, gloves and cricket bat!! If this was not bad enough the weather was terrible!! BatPad's customers' kind contributions for this run went towards a community mini bus to allow those disabled and disadvantaged children be transported to and from cricket facilities giving them a chance to participate in a sport that we take for granted. Without charitable money this great work by PCCC cannot continue and we look forward to announcing more fundraising schemes to assist this organisation very soon!
